About
the Hope Valley . . .
Our
B&B guest house is situated in Bamford
in the Derbyshire Hope Valley, an area of spectacular
scenery
with superb walking trails and footpaths in the Peak District National
Park which marks the start of the Pennine Way.
Pioneer House is close to the
Derwent
Valley and Ladybower Reservoirs, and also the Derwent and
Howden
dams (right), once famous for the training of the 'Dambusters'
squadron, a miniature Lake District considered by many to be the most
beautiful part of the Peak District National Park.

Not
far away is
Castleton, famous for its show
caverns
and
the village of Hathersage has legendary connections with Robin Hood and
Jane Eyre.
By
far the best reason for visiting us is for the
excellent walking
opportunities in this area such as the easy stroll along Bamford Edge which is easily reached from our door
as are similar
breathtaking walks along Stanage Edge, Froggatt Edge and on the Kinder
and Bleaklow plateaus. There are many other walks from
the house to suit all tastes, ranging from easy to strenuous.
