attractions of Sheffield, Manchester and Leeds are very easily
reached by frequent rail-link on the Hope
Valley Line from nearby
Bamford station.
Sheffield
has many art
galleries
including
the V&A,
cinemas,
theatres
and
museums,
especially
the recently reopened Weston Park Museum and the industrial
heritage museums of Kelham
Island and
Abbeydale
Industrial Hamlet, the Winter
Garden,
as well as the award winning Magna science and technology
centre.
Sheffield's Botanical Gardens have been totally refurbished and are an
enjoyable way to pass few hours and is only 30 minutes away.

Manchester
is one hour away and has many similar places of interest,
including the Lowry
Collection, and the recently opened Imperial War Museum North.
Leeds
is well known for the Royal
Armouries but also for the Thackray
Medical Museum and the Butterfly
House, all of which are well worth visiting and easily
reached from Bamford by rail.
The town of Holmfirth,
the setting of Last of the
Summer Wine makes a good day out and is less than an hour`s drive
through some glorious scenery.
